Yankees vs Jays - July 12, 2008 @ Rogers Centre

On this day, I decided that I would try get get some autographs from the Blue Jays players entrence. As soon as I arrived I seen Brad Wilkerson getting out of a taxi and I quickly took out 2 cards for him to sign.

After this, I seen David Cone get out of a taxi and I quickly got out a baseball to get signed by him.

Then at the same time, Ken Singleton walked by and I got him to sign a postcard and then I got Jason Frasor to autograph it too.

Batting Practice was a joke. The Blue Jays were not throwing many baseballs in the stands. I was lucky to get 1 baseball thrown to me by Rod Barajas tho.

After the Jays finished BP, the Yankees took the field and YES they were using commemorative baseballs. The Yankee players are so un-friendly and have some attitude. I did not get any baseballs from them and any autogaphs during BP.

I only stayed for 7 innings and then left. I decided that I would try the Yankees hotel for autographs.

When I got there and the players bus came. Derek Jeter was first off the bus, but walked straight by without even signing 1 autograph. All of the other players came off too, but would NOT sign.

Edwar Rameriz  walked out a bit later and I got him to sign a baseball. I also got Chad Moeller and Brett Gardner to sign aswell.

You must've been in the wrong spot my friend. I was at that game and saw Andy Pettitte sign autographs, as well as Joba Chamberlain, Kyle Farnsworth, and A-Rod (right before the game). You've got to remember that it's not their job to sign autographs and flip balls to people. They're there to prepare for the game. How does doing their job make them unfriendly and have an attitude? People need to realize that BP is not fun and games for these guys. They've got work to do.

Isn't one of the pictures of Darrell Rasner? Also, it's cool that you got David Cone and Ken Singleton to sign something. They are two of the decent Yankee broadcasters and living in NY it is nice when they are in the booth and Michael Kay is the worst. I love the moments when Kay says something and then somebody else replies in a tone that says, "Michael you are an idiot but I can't say that on the air"

Yeah, Wilkerson was pretty nice in his time with Washington and so was Rasner. I've been reading your blog for a while, about a year or so. I've just never gotten around to commenting.
About you putting the Chris Hex on Jamey Carroll......I know you can only judge a player on what you see personally, but I think Jamey was one of the nicest players I've ever seen. He used to sign at least 20 minutes a game very day. In addition, his mother was very sick in 2005, and passed away in the off-season of 2006. Actually, I posted an entry on my blog about how nice each Nationals player was. Probably boring for you, but whatever.
Did you go NYC, and the Home Run Derby? I hope you post that up soon.

baseballsimmer - Although, BP is about preparing for the game, it is also a large reason why a lot of people attend games. Although technically there is nothing wrong about not giving autographs or balls, with so players doing it, it makes those other players stand out a lot.

Whenever the Yankees come to town it's always a media circus on and off the field. The boys from the Bronx (The Evil Empire) definitely have an attitude problem. When a players refuses to sign an autograph for kids, he's hit rock bottom of his career. For example, Derek Jeter, is taking out his frustration of a horrible season by refusing to sign a simple signature that takes only 10 seconds... I'm sure he walked right by you with a cell phone pressed to his ear while pretending to talk to someone important!

Chris-
You just gave me another reason to hate the Yankees, as if I didn't have enough already.

Oops, I just saw that you already said that you were not going to blog about the Home Run Derby because it's not an official game. Well, I'm assuming that you didn't catch a ball, but couldn't you still talk about your experience a little? Or maybe share some pictures? That would be cool.

hey zacjk jr. was refered by zacks , cool blog you have .get your 1st home run yet? how many days til spring training .rules out here in az.

I think it's unfair to criticize any player when they don't stop to sign autographs. For one, if they're a Yankee, can you imagine how many times they are asked for their autograph in one day? Though it's somewhat their obligation to cater to the fans, they can't do it all the time. you notice that the younger players sign almost always and the veterans not as much. it's because vets have been around for years and if they stopped to sign "which takes like 10 seconds" always, they'd be signing half of their life. it does depend on the situation though. there are some instances in which a ballplayer not signing would be completely rude, but in defense of the Yankee players, I don't think they wanted to be bothered at their hotel. They are human like everyone else. I'm just saying.

Baseballsimmer--
I have heard that Pettitte signs, but I did not see him sign at the hotel or on the field. BP is fun for the players tho. Players love to interact with the fans. I understand they have work to do and I never ask them for balls or autographs when they are throwing. Thanks for the comment.
Ellie--
I knew that David Cone was travelling with the team, but I wasn't not sure where I would get him to sign. I was lucky tho to get him to sign before he entered the stadium. I enjoy listening to Michael Kay on YES.
Aaron--
Thanks!! I am glad that you enjoy my blog. I read your blog entry on each national player and how they are. I think that is cool what you did. When I seen Jamey Carroll at the Rogers Centre last year he was not being that friendly to the fans. Keep up the great blogging. I will be attending Yankee Stadium later in the season and will be doing blog entries about those games.
Pinetarman1--
Yes, he did. He was on the cellphone. I always see big name players on the phone, so that they can avoid signing for fans. I think the Red Sox players are better for signing then the Yankees 100%. I hope your collection is growing.
Graham--
LOL, I don't like the Yankees that much. I wonder how they are at Yankee Stadium. I will see them later on in the season.
Tracycollinsbecky--
Thanks, I am happy you enjoy my blog. I have not caught my first home run ball from a Major League game yet. I am gonna try when I get outfield seats for a game tho.
Vanessa--
I think that a Class Act players sign on and off the field. A good example of one is Chipper Jones. He loves his fans. I understand that players don't want to be bothered every minute, but I think they should take the time to sign for a couple of people.
Everyone--
I just finished replying to all of the comments on my blog and I also finished replying to all of your emails. I might attend a Minor League baseball game tomorrow.
