Twins vs Tigers - July 11, 2008 @ Comerica Park

Yes, that's right. I went to Comerica Park to see the Tigers play the Twins. I did not have any tickets to see this game in advance. The only reason why I decided to go was because the weather was supposed to be perfect. If the weather was going to be bad, I would have probably not even gone at all. I arrived at Comerica Park at 12:30 pm. The gates were going to open at 5:00 and I had lots of time. The first thing I did was go to the Tigers ticket office to buy tickets for the game.

Here is a photo of me infront of the Tigers Box Office.

The guy working in the Box Office gave me a whole bunch of Tiger schedules for my collection.

After I got my Tiger tickets. I decided to go and check out the Tigers Team Store.

They have a 2 floor shop with everything you could think off. I purchased a Tigers t-shirt and some other little things.

The best part about the Tiger's Store was that you could see a bit of the field from the 2nd floor. Here is what the view looked liked.

After, I finished looking in the store. I decided that I would walk around the whole stadium from the outside and take some photo's.

I want to get in there to SNAG!!!

I also got a photo of Ford Field which is right across the street from Comerica Park.

Another cool thing about Comerica Park is that you can also see inside the stadium from Centre Field.

Here is a view to homeplate from Centre Field.

I also took a photo of the scoreboard from the outside.

Yes, there are lots of ramps at Comerica Park to get up to the Upper Deck level.

After, I walked around the whole stadium and took loads of photo's with my camera I went to get a bit to eat at a local restaurant.

When I finished eating and took a rest from walking. I went to the gate to start linning up. I had about a 35 minute wait but luckily there are many places to sit down, compared to other stadiums.

Then it was showtime! The security guards and ushers are so friendly compared to other stadium's I have been too. I got my bag quickly checked and ran inside the stadium.

I ran to deep right field. I spotted Justin Verlander and Joel Zumaya shagging baseballs out there. Then one baseball came my way and just fell short and landed on the warning track. Verlander ran over to pick it up and he picked it up and turned his back, but then turned back around and threw me my first baseball of the day. This baseball was an Official Training Baseball. I then caught another baseball on the fly for my 2nd baseball of the day. Once again this was a Official Training ball.

Then the Tigers BP ended and it was the Minnesota Twins turn to have Batting Practice.

I got my first ball of the day from the Twins thrown by Boof Bonser. Then I asked Scott Baker for a baseball that he had in his hand and he tossed me my 4th baseball of the day.

I also got Livan Hernandez to toss me my 5th baseball of the day. He remembered me from last season when I asked him for a ball.

The highlight of my day was getting Ron Gardenhire to throw me my 6th baseball of the day. I yelled out his name as he was catching ground balls in BP and got him to toss me a ball. What is it this season with me getting baseballs thrown by Major League managers?

As I walked back to RF. I was looking in the rows to see if there were any baseballs and look what happened to be sitting in one of the rows. easter_egg1.JPG

Look at the baseball carefully. This is not a regular Major League baseball. Here is a zoom in of it. Yes! I had finally snagged a 2006 All-Star game baseball. I have no clue on why the Tigers were using these. This baseball was sitting here all BP and know one else had seen it. I snagged my 7th baseball of the day in style!!

Here is a photo of my 8th baseball of the day. I had got this baseball infront of the Twins dugout by a coach that I could not identify.

After BP I asked Justin Morneau to autograph my baseball and he did. I also got the chance to talk with him for 10-15 minutes after BP. Here is a photo of the baseball.

I also got Denard Span to autograph my ticket stub from the game. denard_span.jpg

Here are some photo's that I took during the game. I walked around the whole stadium taking photo's.

I also stood by CF and tried to see if I would find any baseballs in the trees from batting practice.

Before leaving for home, I decided that I would go for a ride on the Baseball Ferris Wheel.

 Here is me on it!!!

I also got 1 collectable Comerica Park cup.

Comerica Park home of the Detroit Tigers -- now your talking baseball! The architect who designed this park touched all the bases and hit a home run with this spectacular gem!

Dang, that's a pretty park. Reminds me of Spring Training parks because you can see inside from outside.
SUH-WEET autographs, man. As much as I kinda dislike Justin Morneau now (and I know he didn't ask for it, either), that's super, duper awesome.
Ohmigod, Justin Verlander... *swoon* He's AMAZING.
That ferris wheel is beastly.
I'm so jealous!

That's awesome Chris.. looks like you had one hell of a time! Nice park too.

Sounds like you had a good game Chris!

I was wondering what city you're from

Pinetarman1--
Yes, he did. It is a wonderful place to enjoy a baseball game that's for sure. I recommand visiting this stadium if you can!
Kylie--
It also reminds me of a Spring Training baseball park also. Justin Verlander is one of my favorite baseball player's on the Tigers. I am happy that he threw me my first baseball of the season at that stadium. I also recommand going on the Ferris Wheel because of the wonderful views.
Nick--
Thanks. I had a great time!
Dgoldberg1313--
I am sorry, but I consider that question a personal question. I don't think anybody likes being asked were they live on the internet. I think you understand.
Everyone--
I finished replying to all of the emails that people have sent me within the last day or so. I am working on having my next entry up sometime Saturday evening.

HOW ON EARTH IS ME ASKING WHAT CITY YOU ARE FROM A PERSONAL QUESTION????

I AM FROM TORONTO, NOW YOU ALL KNOW, VERY PERSONAL!!

I don't think Chris wants to offend anyone but he does have the right to his own privacy. In other words, privacy is the right of an individual to control his or her personal information (that includes name, date of birth, address, and phone number, etc) and a person can determine how, when, and to what extent, they will share information with others. One must remember, there are many risks and security issues involving the use of the internet. Because one has the opportunity to remain anonymous online, anyone can blog or send e-mail messages and portray themselves how they want. This can be very dangerous. It is very easy to mislead a young person who believes they are communicating with a peer with similar interests. Always be prepared. It's better to be safe -- than sorry later. Computer crime happens all the time and is not controllable -- privacy should not be sought online!

Thanks for the safety lesson pinetarman, and for defining the word privacy for me. I wasn't sure what it meant but now I fully understand!

No problem dgoldberg. Some people are very sensitive and I'm glad you understand this issue. Have a grrrrrr-8 weekend!

hey, i was just wondering-on your previous entry, why did you blur out your name on the field pass when we all clearly know it is chris los? just wondering..thanks.

Hey, Chris ...

Excellent Post - Great Pictures ... It looks like you had a lot of fun on your trip to Comerica Park ... I traveled a lot to Detroit in the past, and was at the old "Tigers Stadium" one time. It was a great old ballpark, and certaintly a much better hitters Park. But, it was old, and the Tigers needed a new Stadium ... Comerica Park looks like a great Stadium, and hopefully I will see a game there one day ... Continued success with your baseball collecting, Chris ... Jimmy [27NYY] ...

Nope Sorry, I consider that a personal question. Don't forget that this is the internet!
Pinetarman1--
Thank you for telling him. I want my own privacy and I think that other people do too. Thank you again! Know let's get back to a Baseball Topic.
Njmetfan--
I blured out my name on the field pass because I don't want people printing it off with my name on it.
Jimmy--
Thanks Jimmy! My dad went to the old "Tiger Stadium" but I never went there. People I have talked too over the last couple of months have told me that if I liked Comerica Park, that I would have enjoyed the old "Tiger Stadium" 10 times more. Thanks for commenting and hopefully you Yankees turn it around in the 2nd half.
