Mariners vs Jays - July 26, 2008 @ Rogers Centre

I decided that I had to go to another game of this 3 game series and I was lucky that I did. I tried my luck again at the Blue Jays player entrance, but I did not get any BIG name players walking in this day. I was lucky to get Scott Downs to autograph a postcard that I had with me.

scott_downs_index1.jpg

My last autograph of the day was from Brad Wilkerson who came in by taxi.

brad_wilkerson2.jpg

I had 2 autographs before I walked into the stadium and that was great. When I walked to my gate, I talked to the guy who yelled over to Ichiro yesterday to sign his baseball and he had this sign ready to hold. "Ichiro, U R My Hero"!

big_ichiro_fan.JPG

We chatted and then it was time to go in. The Blue Jays were still taking Batting Practice and I got my first baseball of the day thrown to me by left hander Scott Downs. He is a very friendly guy and loves the fans. After this I got a another baseball thrown to me by Shaun Marcum who was shagging fly balls. Then I got my 3rd baseball of the day from Shawn Camp, It took him 3 tries before I caught it because he was throwing the baseball low and it fell in the Jays bullpen.

bp_jays_mariners.JPG

Then, it was time for the Mariners to take the field. I got Miguel Cairo to toss me my first ball of the day by their dugout. I stood infront of the Mariners dugout for a bit because I wanted to try and snag some batting gloves. Jeremy Reed ran in from taking his cuts in the cage and picked up a baseball and tossed it to me infront of the dugout. When the Mariners finished batting practice I got my last baseball thrown to me by first base coach Eddie Rodriguez infront of the dugout. As soon as I caught the ball and turned my back. I seen this.

camera_crew1.JPG

A guy with a Camera! The guy here in the black t-shirt started to ask me questions and I was being filmed. This guy went all around the Mariners side asking "ICHIRO" fans, if they thought he would get his 3,000 hit today. Here is my interview with him: Do you think that Ichiro will get 3,000 hits today? I don't think he will get 3,000 hits today. How many hits do you think he will get in today's game? I think he will get 3 today and 2 in tomorrow's game to reach 3,000 hits. Will you be here tomorrow? Yes. I will! Where do you think ICHIRO will hit the ball today? I think ICHIRO will hit the ball to right field today and possibly get a homerun. He has also has tremendous power. What do you think of ICHIRO about getting 3,000 hits? I think that it is a really cool thing that he will be acomplishing and I can't wait till I see it.

The guy in the black t-shirt asked me more questions, but I forget some of them. This interview went for 6-8 minutes infront of the Mariners dugout. I am going to try and get the video of it for you guys.

interview_ichiro_1.JPG

After the Interview, I decided that I would take a photo of me and the balls that I snagged.

chris_6_mlb_balls.JPG

I stayed for 7 innings and walked around the stadium.

Here is a photo of the Japanese photographers taking photo's of ICHIRO in Right Field during the game.

Mariners vs Jays - July 25, 2008 @ Rogers Centre

Friday night's series opener against the Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre brought Ichiro Suzuki and the Seattle Mariners to town. I had to attend this game because Ichiro was only a few hits short of a career milestone and closing in on 3,000 hits as a professional. This achievment will be unique because of the breakdown of his hits, (1,278) hits with the Orix Blue Wave of Japan's Pacific League, and (1,729) hits with the Seattle Mariners. Reaching 3,000 hits will put Ichiro in select company and I didn't want to miss the chance of snagging a historic baseball right in my very own backyard. I was pumped and ready for the challenge.

ichiro_1.JPG

I arrived early for this game because of the publicized countdown in the newspapers and expected a large crowd to be in attendance at the Rogers Centre. Ichiro fans were everywhere. Check out the photo below. By the way, this poster took these fans 2 days to make.

3000_hits_ichiro.JPG

A friend of mine told me that Roberto Alomar was eating in a restaurant near the Rogers Centre. So I ventured over to the restaurant and stumbled upon Roberto Alomar having lunch at a table. Politely, I approached him and apologized for interrupting his meal and asked him if he could please sign my baseball on the sweet spot. He inscribed my baseball with his autograph and the caption "92-93" Champs. I told him "Thank You" very much and shook hands with him before leaving.

alomar_signed_baseball.JPG

I decided that then I would try and get some autographs at the Blue Jays player entrence. As soon as I arrived I seen Greg Zaun walking toward the player entrence and I got him to sign a baseball card that I had with me.

greg_zaun1.jpg

Then, I got Adam Lind and Jason Frasor to autograph Blue Jays index cards that I had with me.

adam_lind1.jpg

jason_frasor2.jpg

Before leaving and heading to wait inline at my gate, I seen John McDonald walking in and I got him to autograph a baseball card.

john_mcdonald1.jpg

Also, When I was standing inline I seen Miguel Batista walking outside of the Rogers Centre before the game and I got him to sign a ticket stub.

miguel_batista1.jpg

During Batting Practice a fan started chanting "EEE-CHA-ROW" over and over to get the attention of Ichiro snagging balls in the outfield. This worked to perfection because he made eye contact, smiled, and began to laugh hysterically. Ichiro enjoyed the banter so much, he even tossed a ball to this hilarious fan and agreed to sign his baseball after BP. I was one of the lucky other 4 people to get Ichiro to sign. I got him to sign a baseball.

ichiro_signed_baseball.JPG

Also, during Mariners batting practice, Carlos Silva was playing catch with one of the Mariner pitchers and the baseball got over throwen into the stands. I ran up a couple rows and picked up the baseball. Silva then wanted the baseball back and I asked him if I could have it when he finished throwing and he said "Yes". After he finished throwing he took the baseball and walked into the Mariners bullpen. I was so mad because he did not keep his promise. My streak could have ended that easily until Ichiro took his cuts in the cage. He hit a homerun ball to RF and it fell in the Mariners bullpen. The catcher number "87" picked up the baseball and was about to walk off with the baseball until I started yelling "Carlos, Carlos, Carlos". I told the catcher that he forgot to give me the baseball that he promised me after he was done tossing and the catcher then asked Carlos Silva and said "Throw him that baseball, I forgot".

87_catcher.JPG

After BP finished I got Mark Lowe to throw me a baseball in LF before he ran in.

pre_game_1.JPG

Here is a photo of me and the 2 baseballs that I had snagged.

chris_2balls_snagged.JPG

I decided that I would sit in the 100 level outfield and I sat beside the fan who got Ichiro to sign for him during BP. Here is a photo with him and the baseball.

ichiro_superfan1.JPG

The Jays won 5-4 and Overall another banner day at the ballpark. Ichiro is one of my favorite players and I can't wait till he gets 3,000 hits. I also decided that I would go to the game the next day. I will have that entry up in the next couple days.

ichiro_1.JPG

Stats:

1) 1 Signed baseball before the game (Roberto Alomar)

2) 5 Autographs before the game (Frasor, Zaun, Lind, McDonald, Batista)

3) 2 Baseballs snagged at this game

4) Ichiro Signed Baseball!!!!! Note: ""I am never going to sell this baseball""

Yankees vs Jays - July 12, 2008 @ Rogers Centre

On this day, I decided that I would try get get some autographs from the Blue Jays players entrence. As soon as I arrived I seen Brad Wilkerson getting out of a taxi and I quickly took out 2 cards for him to sign.

wilkerson_1.jpg

wilkerson_2.jpg

After this, I seen David Cone get out of a taxi and I quickly got out a baseball to get signed by him.

david_cone1.JPG

Then at the same time, Ken Singleton walked by and I got him to sign a postcard and then I got Jason Frasor to autograph it too.

frasor_singleton.jpg

Batting Practice was a joke. The Blue Jays were not throwing many baseballs in the stands. I was lucky to get 1 baseball thrown to me by Rod Barajas tho.

After the Jays finished BP, the Yankees took the field and YES they were using commemorative baseballs. The Yankee players are so un-friendly and have some attitude. I did not get any baseballs from them and any autogaphs during BP.

I only stayed for 7 innings and then left. I decided that I would try the Yankees hotel for autographs.

When I got there and the players bus came. Derek Jeter was first off the bus, but walked straight by without even signing 1 autograph. All of the other players came off too, but would NOT sign.

Edwar Rameriz  walked out a bit later and I got him to sign a baseball. I also got Chad Moeller and Brett Gardner to sign aswell.

Stats:Yankees.jpg

1) 1 Baseball at this Game

2) 3 Autographs at Yankees Hotel

3) 5 Autographs before the Game

I just posted a TTM sucess video on my YouTube channel a couple days ago. Here is the video.

Twins vs Tigers - July 11, 2008 @ Comerica Park

Yes, that's right. I went to Comerica Park to see the Tigers play the Twins. I did not have any tickets to see this game in advance. The only reason why I decided to go was because the weather was supposed to be perfect. If the weather was going to be bad, I would have probably not even gone at all. I arrived at Comerica Park at 12:30 pm. The gates were going to open at 5:00 and I had lots of time. The first thing I did was go to the Tigers ticket office to buy tickets for the game.

me_ticket_window.JPG

Here is a photo of me infront of the Tigers Box Office.

me_ticket_window2.JPG

The guy working in the Box Office gave me a whole bunch of Tiger schedules for my collection.

Thumbnail image for tiger_schdules1.jpg

After I got my Tiger tickets. I decided to go and check out the Tigers Team Store.

tigers_store_outside.JPG

They have a 2 floor shop with everything you could think off. I purchased a Tigers t-shirt and some other little things.

tigers_store_floor2.JPG

2nd_floor.JPG

The best part about the Tiger's Store was that you could see a bit of the field from the 2nd floor. Here is what the view looked liked.

view_from_tigerstore.JPG

After, I finished looking in the store. I decided that I would walk around the whole stadium from the outside and take some photo's.

front_stadium1.JPG

Here is a picture of me infront of the stadium.

me_infront1.JPG

I want to get in there to SNAG!!!

let_me_in!.JPG

me_outside4.JPG

I also got a photo of Ford Field which is right across the street from Comerica Park.

ford_field.JPG

Another cool thing about Comerica Park is that you can also see inside the stadium from Centre Field.

view_from_cf_outside_stadium.JPG

Here is a view to homeplate from Centre Field.

homeplate_view.JPG

I also took a photo of the scoreboard from the outside.

scoreboard_view1.JPG

Yes, there are lots of ramps at Comerica Park to get up to the Upper Deck level.

ramps_view1.JPG

view_from_behind_homeplate.JPG

After, I walked around the whole stadium and took loads of photo's with my camera I went to get a bit to eat at a local restaurant.

When I finished eating and took a rest from walking. I went to the gate to start linning up. I had about a 35 minute wait but luckily there are many places to sit down, compared to other stadiums.

me_waiting_around1.JPG

gates_waiting2.JPG

Then it was showtime! The security guards and ushers are so friendly compared to other stadium's I have been too. I got my bag quickly checked and ran inside the stadium.

I ran to deep right field. I spotted Justin Verlander and Joel Zumaya shagging baseballs out there. Then one baseball came my way and just fell short and landed on the warning track. Verlander ran over to pick it up and he picked it up and turned his back, but then turned back around and threw me my first baseball of the day. This baseball was an Official Training Baseball. I then caught another baseball on the fly for my 2nd baseball of the day. Once again this was a Official Training ball.

Then the Tigers BP ended and it was the Minnesota Twins turn to have Batting Practice.

I got my first ball of the day from the Twins thrown by Boof Bonser. Then I asked Scott Baker for a baseball that he had in his hand and he tossed me my 4th baseball of the day.

chris_asking_players.JPG

tigers_bp.JPG

I also got Livan Hernandez to toss me my 5th baseball of the day. He remembered me from last season when I asked him for a ball.

The highlight of my day was getting Ron Gardenhire to throw me my 6th baseball of the day. I yelled out his name as he was catching ground balls in BP and got him to toss me a ball. What is it this season with me getting baseballs thrown by Major League managers?

As I walked back to RF. I was looking in the rows to see if there were any baseballs and look what happened to be sitting in one of the rows. easter_egg1.JPG

Look at the baseball carefully. This is not a regular Major League baseball. Here is a zoom in of it. Yes! I had finally snagged a 2006 All-Star game baseball. I have no clue on why the Tigers were using these. This baseball was sitting here all BP and know one else had seen it. I snagged my 7th baseball of the day in style!!

easter_egg2.JPG

Here is a photo of my 8th baseball of the day. I had got this baseball infront of the Twins dugout by a coach that I could not identify.

chris_during_BP.JPG

twins_bp.JPG

After BP I asked Justin Morneau to autograph my baseball and he did. I also got the chance to talk with him for 10-15 minutes after BP. Here is a photo of the baseball.

morneau1.JPG

I also got Denard Span to autograph my ticket stub from the game. denard_span.jpg

Here are some photo's that I took during the game. I walked around the whole stadium taking photo's.

twins_bullpen.JPG

sunny_1.JPG

game_during.JPG

I also stood by CF and tried to see if I would find any baseballs in the trees from batting practice.

looking_trees.JPG

comerica_park_view.JPG

Before leaving for home, I decided that I would go for a ride on the Baseball Ferris Wheel.

ferris_wheel_comeria.JPGI

 Here is me on it!!!

meonferriswheel.JPG

I also got 1 collectable Comerica Park cup.

collectable_cup.JPG

Stats:

1) 8 Baseballs at this Game

2) 2 Autographs (2008 Homerun Derby Winner: Justin Morneau)

3) 1st Collectable Cup this season

4) 1st 2006 All-Star ball of the season

5) 35 Photo Post!

Orioles vs Jays - July 8, 2008 @RC

I wanted to attend 1 game of the 3 game series and I choose to go to the Tuesday game.

Before heading to the stadium I received a phone call my friend Justin, who was running a special baseball camp and had an extra ticket to the game. I then told Justin, I had a ticket to the game, but then he told me that he also had a Pre-Game Field pass. Here is what the field level pass looked liked. I blured out some of the information on it because it had my name on it and other information.

field_pass1.jpg

When we met up he gave me a baseball camp t-shirt outside of Gate 11 and then it was time to get inside the stadium.

I did not go through any behind the scenes stuff. I only had access to stand on the field behind home plate.

I got to chat with many baseball players along with Cito Gaston. The only problem with a pre-game field pass is that you are not allowed to get autographs and get baseballs.

So I had time and I wanted to still keep my ball streak alive, so I went to RF and caught my first baseball on the fly.

orioles_bp.JPG

I also got Guillermo Quiroz to throw me a baseball in Left Field.

By the end of Batting Practice, Jeremy Guthrie came over and signed my baseball card I had with me and he also signed my t-shirt. We chatted for 10 minutes and I found out that he is a card collector.

guthrie_1.JPG

I also got Jeremy Guthrie to sign for all of the kids from Justin's baseball camp.

guthrie_2.JPG

David Eckstein and Joe Inglett finished warming up before the game and I got them to come over to sign.

Autograph Event - Banner Day

The day before I found out that Fergie Jenkins and other celebrity's would be signing autographs at the IBL All-Star game in Toronto. I decided to go.

pregame_2.JPG.

As soon as I arrived the celebrity All-Star game began. Famous people included Walter Gretzky, Jim Fanning and some retired hockey players.

As the celebrity game ended I went to the exit of the field and got Walter Gretzky to sign a ticket stub, program and he gave me a pre-printed autograph sheet of paper too.

gretzky_1.JPG

After this Jim Fanning signed for the fans. I got him to sign 4 baseballs and 1 index card that I had brought with me.

fanning_1.JPG

jim_fanning1.jpg

Fergie Jenkins bought items for example hats, bobbleheads and photo's to sell for his foundation. I bought 1 bobblehead and 1 8x10 photo.

jenkins_1.JPG

I got Fergie to sign 2 baseball cards, 1 Poster, 5 baseballs and 1 program.

Thumbnail image for allstarprogram.jpg

I also got to talk to Fergie Jenkins and I took a photo with him.

Here are some more photo's that I took of Fergie Jenkins.

I am leaving for New York in 1 hour and I can't wait till I leave for the homerun derby tomorrow. I will be sitting in LF and I hopefully will snag a homerun baseball. Look for me on TV. My next entry will be from a game that I attend this past Tuesday night.

Sneak Peek

I went to a special event this past Saturday and got lots of autographs. I will try and have a post about that up soon, but I have been really busy this week. Here is a photo for a sneak peek.

Braves vs Jays - June 29/08 @RC

Last Satuday I attended the Atlanta Braves vs Toronto Blue Jays game at the Rogers Centre. It was business as usual. Arrive early for batting practice and be ready for a fun filled day of baseball to the max. But this wasn't just another routine game at the ballyard. The Atlanta Braves and "Chipper Jones" were in town!

before_bp.JPG

The Blue Jays finished their portion of batting practice and then the Braves took the field. All eyes were on number "10" and the Chipper Jones show was about to begin. Chipper put on a hitting clinic for the fans. He sprayed balls to all fields and ripped a few into the upper deck at the Rogers Centre. This guy is my idol!!

I got JoJo Reyes to throw me my first baseball of the day and then aksed Eddie Perez for a baseball in LF and he tossed me my 2nd ball of the day. That was it for baseballs.

Once batting practice was over, The Braves left the field except for Chipper Jones who stayed to sign autographs for his loyal fans. He didn't just sign a few autographs. Chipper Signed continuously for 30 minutes... If you do the math? One signed autograph takes 10 seconds and 6 can be done in a minute. So Chipper sent home (180) ecstatic Braves fans, including me. I have never seen a MLB player sign so many autographs during BP. Chipper is amazing!

chipper_jones_signing.JPG

Chipper walked towards the dugout and placed his glove on the bench. He noticed me standing behind the dugout and tossed me one of his batting gloves. Check this photo of it. Here are 4 views of it.

view1.JPG

view_2.JPG

I would like to thank Chipper Jones for signing my baseball and giving me his batting glove. I will cherish this forever in my personal collection.

Here are some more photo's that I took:

Ryan and Chris

This is a video of me and a young kid named Ryan. He is a really cool kid. He had never snagged a ball before, until I snagged him a foul ball @ a minor league baseball game. Now he is working on snagging all by himself.

We played catch in between innings and he even asked to take some photos with me as well as get my autograph. This kid is really cool and I am glad that he is a fan of mine.

We look forward to snagging together at future games at either a minor league or major league baseball game.

And might I add: the kid has s-k-i-l-l! He can really throw. I wouldn't be surprised if he is a future Major League Baseball Player!!

Stay tuned for more updates.
